1949 - Oil exportation starts.

1968 - Britain anounces withdrawal of forces from all gulf countries ... including Qatar.

1971 - Qatar becomes an independent country.

Frank Holmes: Considered the "Father of Oil" in the gulf countries, he made significant progress to oil discoveries in middle eastern countries, including Qatar.

Khalifa Bin Hamad Al Thani: 1st Emir of Qatar after the independence.

Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani: 2nd Emir of Qatar, he gained power by deposing his father (the 1st Emir) while he was on vacation.

 

Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani: 3rd Emir of Qatar, he is the son of Hamad BIn Khalifa Al Thani. He took office in 2013.
